A New Me.

Posted June 1st, 2010 by kimmy

So I am getting ready for bed, about to read my Shape magazine when I thought to myself “my, I haven’t blogged in ages“!  So here I am, before I settle down and read my Shape magazine, blogging.

So what is new with me? Well almost nothing but everything too.  I’m still working full-time and studying pretty much full time like the crazy woman I am!  With everything else in between I was finding it quite stressful.  Anxiety was setting in at almost every single hour of the day.  I thought to myself “how much longer can I do this“?  This is when the lights went on.

Recently, since um, 4 weeks ago I want to say, I have been attending Bootcamp twice a week at lunch time through my work.  I love it because with fellow co-workers there suffering with you it gives a person more drive to go everyday.  I don’t love it at the time because of the sweating and puffing due to being so out of shape, but I actually look forward to getting my butt kicked every Wednesday and Friday.  Yeah I am sore for the next few days after but I can already see the difference that this class is doing to my body.  I am on a mission to be fit and healthy.  I am determined, I will do it!

On top of boot camp I have also recently decided to start practicing yoga again (from my own bedroom of course).  This is what I love about yoga.  For a person like me who is constantly trying to juggle their hectic life, yoga is a great way to de-stress because you can literally do it anywhere and it doesn’t require a whole lot of time.  I am currently doing a 2 minute breathing, 2 minute stretching, 8 minute yoga and 8 minute meditation routine.  This is the first week of this, so hopefully by the end of it I will notice the difference in my stress and anxiety levels.  I am looking forward to getting to know the new me, all relaxed and fit despite the insanity in my life.

As for school, I just finished my third exam.  Only one more to go in my AP course!  I still can’t believe how fast the last six months has gone by.  I only hope that the next two years go by just as fast so that it will feel like no time has passed even though I have a CMA designation.  :)

2o1o was the beginning of a new me.  2oo9 was definitely a rough one with quite a few struggles.  But I can confidently say that 2o1o is off to a better start.  I have a man in my life (and have had for a little while now, 7 years next month!) that makes living my life just that much more enjoyable.  He soothes my real bad days and makes my happy days just that more joyous.  I love, love, love him.

Now look, it’s 10:30 and I haven’t even picked up my Shape magazine. :)  I’m off to bed.

With love,

K

Vanilla Twilight by Owlcity
Songwriter: Young, Adam;

The stars lean down to kiss you
And I lie awake and miss you
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere

‘Cause I’ll doze off safe and soundly
But I’ll miss your arms around me
I’d send a postcard to you, dear
‘Cause I wish you were here

I’ll watch the night turn light-blue
But it’s not the same without you
Because it takes two to whisper quietly

The silence isn’t so bad
‘Til I look at my hands and feel sad
‘Cause the spaces between my fingers
Are right where yours fit perfectly

I’ll find repose in new ways
Though I haven’t slept in two days
‘Cause cold nostalgia
Chills me to the bone

But drenched in vanilla twilight
I’ll sit on the front porch all night
Waist-deep in thought because
When I think of you I don’t feel so alone

I don’t feel so alone, I don’t feel so alone

As many times as I blink
I’ll think of you tonight
I’ll think of you tonight

When violet eyes get brighter
And heavy wings grow lighter
I’ll taste the sky and feel alive again

And I’ll forget the world that I knew
But I swear I won’t forget you
Oh, if my voice could reach
Back through the past
I’d whisper in your ear
Oh darling, I wish you were here

I love this song.

2o1o Rezzies.

Posted January 3rd, 2010 by kimmy

Here’s my New Year’s Resolutions for 2o1o:

Rule #1. More cardio. Now that I am finished full time school, I am hoping to get in more work-out time.  2oo9 flew by fast, but at the same time, it was a long year for me.  I’ve come to realize that I need to focus more on myself than other people, and here is where I am going to start, with cardio.

Rule #2. Become a Scrooge. No, not a cheap-skate, but I want to focus more on my finances.  I hope to find a full-time job in the next little while, and it is now that time I need to start saving for my future.  Here’s to rule number 2, saving for my beautiful life to come.

Rule #3.  Ex-nay on the 5-bucks.  This one relates to number two.  My attempt will be not to shelf out money on expensive lattes everyday.  I think maybe once in a while as a treat.  But not everyday, religiously, like I had been doing in 2oo9.

Let’s leave it at three.  I think goals are far easier to reach when you make them reachable.  I also think that if you focus on just a few, your chances of success are higher as well.

Good luck and with love in 2o10!

Season’s Greetings.

Posted December 23rd, 2009 by kimmy

My Fall 2oo9 Semester has finally wrapped up!  I had an interesting mix of marks this semester.  I got an A- in Intermediate Accounting, an A in tax accounting, and an A+ in management accounting.  I must say I am glad it’s the holiday season, I worked my butt off this semester.  Come January I am starting the CMA Accelerated program.  Oh and of course looking for a job.  Oh what fun!

Anyways, this is just a little update.  I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season and a great New Year!  Bring on 2010!

My 10 Cents.

Posted November 1st, 2009 by kimmy

Just some things…

I wish I was rich, at least I’m not poor.

I wish I was more smart, at least I am not dumb.

I wish I was prettier, at least I am not ugly.

I wish I was thinner, at least I am not fatter.

I wish I could tell the future, at least I know my past.

This is my 10 cents.  Look at the glass half full.

Optimism is your friend.

Don’t live your life wishing you were something or someone else.

If you are truly happy with yourself, the rest is just, well, easy.

When you think that you have it bad, look around and see everyone else’s struggles.

Lemon Meringue

Posted September 6th, 2009 by kimmy

I used the Kitchen Aid mixer to whip up some meringue, and well my meringue wasn’t all I thought it would be. Now don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but I’m saddened at how flat it turned out. :(

I laugh out loud at this post. I can’t believe I am stressing over a botched pie… in less than a month I will be head over heals in accounting homework. I will be lucky to even find time to make a lemon meringue pie! I am so silly!

Have I mentioned I love lemon meringue pie! Probably my most favourite pie in the whole-wide-world. Well that and key-lime and coconut pie.

Since we are on the topic of food:

So Not Looking for a Protein Power Bar
While I was out grocery shopping today I picked up a new nutritional bar to try. Over the last few months (instead of snacking on junk food like chips and chocolate), I’ve been trying to eat nutritional bars. So far, I’ve tried the Cliff and Luna bar. And to be honest I liked the Luna bar better than the Cliff. I found the Cliff bar to be to “protein-ish”. Well you probably have tried a power bar before right? Well I really don’t find those yummy at all, so after purchasing and trying 3 kinds of the Cliff bar and finding that they taste close to a power bar, I turned to the Luna bar. Now this bar was better. It still tastes like a power bar, but surprisingly the brownie one actually tastes like a brownie! So far, my favourite of this bar is the brownie one. The nut and chocolate one isn’t bad either.

Ok so back to my original reason for the last paragraph. I picked up some Larabar’s today. I read the ingredients and this time the list was rather quite short. Like I’m talking 3 to 4 ingredients short. The other two bars I mentioned had a long paragraph of ingredients. The Larabar’s contain ingredients such as nuts, dates, and fruits. I read on a website last month that this bar got rated high as a good nutritional bar… as in, it tastes good. So I will do an update after I have tried a few.

Back to school.

Posted September 3rd, 2009 by kimmy

One week until back to school, and I have some decisions to make. To take Intermediate Accounting 1 and 2 or to not?

Over the summer I decided to follow the CMA designation stream. It’s not all that different than the CGA one. The main difference is that I am able to take an accelerated program. This program will start for me in January, but in order to get into it I must complete Intro to Managerial. So now I am torn between whether or not to take Intermediate 1 and 2. Seeing as though the accelerated program will cover these classes I don’t know if I want to take these two. I suppose taking these would give me a thorough understanding of the topics, and in turn would help me in the Accelerated Program. Looks like I have some thinking to do.
